I’ve heard a couple of people tell me now, that if you can avoid any symptoms then isolating because of Covid-19 can be a good opportunity to relax and take a break.
But what about if your idea of relaxing is far from putting your feet up and bingeing through another Netflix series. What about if your relaxation is a coffee outside watching the sunrise, feeling the flood of endorphins after a run, or an evening walk through the woods.
The holidays are usually a good time for me to take a break and spend some of that important time outside to relax. Annual runs on Boxing day and New Year often dust the cobwebs of overindulgence and scatter in a couple of walks and I’m content.
Isolation put a stop to that this year. For someone who needs that time outside, being confined to the limitation of a 1st floor flat, for days on end, is not relaxing or a break. I’m not insensitive enough to know that I’ve been lucky to remain healthy, and there are many people, for who Coronavirus has been a significant difficulty. It has however made me appreciate the opportunities I have each day to take some time out for myself. A reminder to not put spending time outside at the bottom of my list of priorities.
Today was the first day of 2022 I could go outside, and what a better way to start the day than watching the sunrise over the lake, as I tried to keep warm in the winter’s frost.
