I’ve got a trip planned for next year which I wanted to be able to document in a full video. I’ve been messing about with filming for a few weeks with my camera as it adds a different way of sharing stories. Rather than just writing about it and sharing photos. As well as giving me something to share, it’s also a great way for me to remember the trips I have been on.
In the summer I went away on holiday with my partner and made a short 4-minute film about it. It’s not something I’ve shared or plan to share, but it’s great to have and I watch it back regularly and think about how great of a time I had.
In anticipation of that upcoming trip, I thought I would go ahead and treat myself, so I bought a DJI Mini 2 second-hand. Eager to play around with a new toy I went out for a walk on a snowy day to a local park and flew it around a bit.
Spending that time outdoors looking at my phone screen probably seemed counterproductive to the reason I spend time outside, but I’m interested in photography, and being able to look at the landscape from a different perspective was interesting, and it gave me a newfound appreciation for a park which is just down the road.
